The 2013 Verdi Academy of Dance recital marks the fourth year I’ve had the honor to photograph the annual event.
This year the academy performed a memorable re-creation of the timeless classic Sleeping Beauty. True to form, the ballet company put on a beautiful performance, and as in years past, the dancers–young and old–didn’t disappoint.
There were just too many highlights to cover in a single blog post, but my favorites included a special performance by the lovely Veronica Edwards, the wicked and good fairies, and the performance of the young dancers portraying the prince and Sleeping Beauty.
With tasks including running the dance studio, tutoring 75+ students, and choreographing each recital, Maestra Edwards, the founder of the dance academy, doesn’t often take to the stage, so it’s a real treat when she does perform.
